FSPCA Preventive Controls for Human Food (PCQI)
 

Course description: The current Good Manufacturing Practice, Hazard Analysis and Risk-based Preventive Controls for Human Food Regulation is intended to ensure the safe production/processing, packaging and storage of food for human consumption in the USA. The regulation stipulates that certain activities must be carried out by a person qualified in "Preventive Control Qualified Individual" (PCQI). This person must "have successfully completed training in the development and application of risk-based preventive controls". Developed by the FSPCA, this course is the FDA-approved "standardized curriculum"; successful completion of this course is one way to meet the requirements of a "qualified person".
 

This course is taught by a lead instructor/trainer who has been trained by the FSPCA and has therefore been taught in the teaching of the FDA approved standardized curriculum.

Under the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) rule, a "Qualified Person" must develop an importer's FSVP and perform the activities required by the rule. An importer may employ one or more "Qualified Persons" to comply with all FSVP requirements. A "qualified person" must have the education, training or experience (or a combination thereof) required to perform their assigned duties. She must also be able to read and understand the language of the documents that must be checked when carrying out an activity. Successful completion of this course is one way to meet the Qualified Person requirements.
